The emphasis was on how to construct the space with "real" materials, not imitations.
We dared to be conscious of the bare state of the building, using only the minimum necessary amount of "real" materials.
The bare concrete space is simple and unadorned.
The bare concrete has strength in its roughness.
The grain of the softwood plywood gives a sense of casual warmth, and the old tiles are painted so that their presence is visible, bringing out the expression of the new space.
The original structural frame has been there for a long time, and the layout of the new additions to it creates various lines of flow and sight lines.
The old and the new" - two seemingly contradictory things coexist in this space.
